Zidane chose not to be involved in a war of words with Pique in order not to get distracted and caught up by it all.
Pique has never shied away from making comments directed at Real Madrid.
This season alone, the Barca man has made a number of comments aimed at his rivals. His latest was one where he insinuated Real Madrid get lots of favors from referees.
Zidane recently spoke on it and said he refuses to be bothered by Pique’s comments.
And now, popular L’Equipe journalist Frederic Hermel has explained why his compatriot has chosen to stay mute despite all the provocations from the Barcelona camp.
“Zidane has not responded to Pique because he wants all his energy to lead the team,” Hermel told Radio MARCA.
“I remember one of the first times we ate together and I asked for meat and potatoes.
“He asked for grilled chicken with a squeeze of lemon.
“When I asked him about it, he said that the energy he would spend on managing the food would not be enough for football.”
