Real Madrid secured a narrow 1-0 win against Espanyol, thanks to Karim Benzema’s sensational assist and Casemiro’s goal just before half-time.
Last night’s result strengthened Real Madrid’s case for becoming the 2019/20 La Liga champions.
FC Barcelona had dropped two points against Sevilla on Friday and now they find themselves two points adrift of the league leaders.
Having won all of their five matches, Zinedine Zidane’s men have been in sublime form since the return of football earlier this month.
Zidane, however, suggests his team still cannot afford to slack in any of their remaining six league matches while insisting that the title race is still far from over.
“I’m not taking notice that we’re winning La Liga. This will be decided on the final day [of the season],” he said after the game at the RCDE Stadium.
“Look how difficult it was to play against the bottom team. You never know in this league.”
“I’m very happy with my players. Winning game after game isn’t easy, I have to congratulate my players.”
