Retired German international Michael Ballack is not buying into the “best defender in the world” tag stuck on Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk.
The former Bayern Munich and Chelsea midfielder feels that if Van Dijk were to face some of the Premier League top strikers of old things would be very different.

Speaking to The Mirror, he is unconvinced by the Dutchman.
He said:
“Virgil van Dijk is very lucky to play in an era where there is no Drogba, Lampard, Alan Shearer, Henry, Rooney, Van Persie, Tevez, Adebayor and Diego Costa in the Premier League.”
“No wonder they think he is the best defender in the league.”
