United should sign Jadon Sancho this summer – Gary Neville

This summers transfer window is set to be a difficult one for many clubs following the COVID-19 lockdown. Manchester United legend Gary Neville feels his old club may have an advantage over most.

Manchester United is a financial powerhouse and while coronavirus may have had some adverse effect on their finances, they more than likely have more money to spend than most.

Neville feels that the club must capitalize on that strength and go all out to sign their top targets now while certain competitors may be down and out.

Speaking to Webby & O’Neill he thinks Jadon Sancho is a must.

He said: “You’re still going to have to basically encourage the player to come, you’re still going to have to pay the money to the club. You’re not going to be able to bully Borussia Dortmund if they’re going to sell him.”

“When all the other clubs are armed with money, he might have four or five choices. The fact that he could come to Manchester United this summer because Manchester United is the only shop in town.”

“Manchester United now has the opportunity to exploit the market. That might not mean getting players cheaper.”

“But just the fact they can get players without the market being as competitive.”

“I think that’s where Manchester United has an advantage.”

“If they can somehow put together a £150m pot, they can get maybe another £30m to £50m from players they want to get rid of, they’ve got a pot of money there to go and do some real damage with to get three or four players.”
