Ronald Koeman, who recently took charge after Quique Setien’s dismissal, is reportedly planning a massive squad overhaul FC Barcelona.
Luis Suarez is said to be one of the many established players deemed surplus to the team’s requirements by Koeman.
The third best goalscorer in Barca’s history had a productive 2019/20, scoring 21 goals in 36 appearances in total, but missed a good part of the season due to fitness issues.
Ajax are keen on bringing back the 33-year old and have already made contact with his agents over a summer move, according to rumors.
Addressing the speculations, Suarez suggests he would be open to putting an end to his six-year spell at Camp Nou but wants the club to directly inform him about their plans.
“If this is the desire of the club, it would be good if the person in charge speaks directly to me. It’s better to tell me if I am one of the ones that they want out. It remains to be seen,” he said in an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais.
“I also want the best for the club and my plan today is to continue, but if the club thinks that I am expendable, I have no problem speaking with those who decide.”
