A comfortable win against Sheffield United, courtesy of Anthony Martial’s hat-trick, last night saw Manchester United keep well alive their hopes of securing direct qualification into next Champions League season.
With 49 points amassed from 31 games, the Red Devils are now just two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea. Later today Chelsea can re-stretch the five-point gap but it won’t be easy since they face Manchester City.
The 3-0 victory also saw United extend their unbeaten streak to 13 matches in all competitions, their longest streak since 2016/17.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, however, holds the view that his side are not yet firing on all cylinders insisting that there’s still room for improvement, especially in attack.
“Very pleased with the performance but still more to come. We shouldn’t be 100 percent happy with it,” he said, as ESPN reports.
“We should’ve scored more today, little bit lackadaisical with the final pass. When we’re in 100% shape we’ll be better.”
“I have never said fourth is our aim. We want to go up to third but we have to focus on each game as it comes and there are two cups for us there as well.”
