Quique Setien was happy with what he saw as Barcelona eased to a convincing 4-0 win over Mallorca in their first fixture post the pandemic.
After Vidal’s opener, Messi set up Braithwaite and Alba before rounding up proceedings with a goal of his own in the 93rd minute.
That goal was a special one for Messi as it saw him become the only player to score 20 or more goals in Spain’s top flight in 12 consecutive seasons.
As it stands, Barcelona hold a five point lead at the top of La Liga, although rivals Real Madrid still have a game in hand.
Setien is focused on his side and was happy to see them put a solid display as La Liga gets back to full stride.
“The feelings are good. There are always things that you want to improve, but I am satisfied with the game we have made,” he told reporters after the game as quoted by Goal.
“We have had an effectiveness…but we were fine with the ball. We have had a break, but I am very satisfied.
“To be the first game without playing, we could be accused of a lack of rhythm, but I think it is a good start to face this sprint that we have 10 games left. I have good feelings in general.”
Luis Suarez last featured for Barcelona in January and made his return looking sharp after coming from the Bench in the second half. Setien was also pleased with his performance on the evening.
“Everything he has done, he has done well. He had quality actions,” he said. “Surely we will see how he is improving, but he has been spectacular.”
