Setien – Messi is the best, Lewandowski not at his level

Much of the build-up to the game has been all about Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi.

The Polish forward is in the form of his life and just can’t stop scoring at the moment.

Messi might not be at his usual best but against Napoli, he showed he still has enough quality to influence the result of a match.

As it stands, a number of players from the Bayern camp are confident Lewandowski will take center stage on Friday.

Quique Setien admits the Polish forward is one of the best in the world right now but believes he is still below Messi’s level.

“Lewandowski is a great player, but I think he is not at Leo’s level,” he said during his press conference via the club’s social channel.

“I think that is clear. It is true that he is in great form and that he is very well assisted by many teammates around him.”

“He is in great shape, but Leo is as well, as we already saw against Napoli.”

“It’s good that these players will be on the field and we can enjoy them.”

Beyond Lewandowski, Bayern are currently in flying form and Setien appears to be well aware of it.

“We know the potential of the opponents,” he added.

“We will try to minimise their strengths. They are potentially extraordinary, but so are we.”

“I think it will be an even game, with alternatives for both. We have a lot to say in this game.”
