Serie A clubs already have a draft agreement and are considering a joint-decision to ask players for a salary cut amidst the ongoing coronavirus situation.
As per a report from Italian newspaper Il Mattino via Calciomercato, the club presidents have already discussed this but have not yet made a final decision though.
For players with gross salaries over €1.5 million, they would be asked to take a 30% pay cut. By doing this, the League could save around €260 million, with Napoli saving around €28 million, for example.
With Italy still affected largely by the crisis, Serie A is not expected to resume soon, with the country still in lock-down.
The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Christian Eriksen and De Ligt are among the top earners in the Serie A and it remains to be seen how they would react to this, if it goes on to be confirmed.
