Leroy Sane has rejeceted a new contract extension with Manchester City and could leave them this summer, says Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City winger Leroy Sane’s future has been up in the year for over a year now with him being heavily linked with a transfer to Bayern Munich.
It is understood that Sane was destined to play for Bayern this season but a lengthy injury last summer was what stopped him from jumping ships.
A move to the Allianz Arena was reportedly further postponed in January with him still recovering from cruciate ligament damage.
The Germany international is fit and fine now and, as manager Pep Guardiola recently confirms, he has not given up the dream of returning to his homeland.
“Leroy has said he doesn’t want to extend the contract,” Guardiola said, according to BBC.
“It means he’s going to leave. It’s going to happen this summer or at the end of his contract. We have offered him two or three times and he rejected so he’s going to play for another club.
“We want players who want to play for this club. We respect him, he’s an incredibly nice guy. It’s just he decides he wants another adventure for his career.”
