Cristiano Ronaldo yet again turned the spotlight on himself during Juventus’ 2-1 victory over Lazio in Serie A.
The Portuguese superstar broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with an ice-cool finish from the spot before quickly netting in another, having been teed up by Paolo Dybala.
Last night’s exploits saw him become the fastest player to score 50 Serie A goals, having achieved the tally in 61 matches.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid talisman also became the first player ever to reach half a century of goals in Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A.
Furthermore, with 12 successful conversions from the spot this season, he equaled Giuseppe Signori’s 1994-95 record for penalty goals in a season.
“We knew it was a very difficult game against a team having a great season, but we knew this was a big opportunity to win, we were at home. We’re very happy,” Ronaldo told post-match [via Football Italia].
“Records are always important, but the important thing is that the team wins.
“We are a phenomenal team and we showed that again today, although we always want to improve and raise the bar.”
