Ronaldo alone scores for Juventus in CL knockout stages

Juventus have played six Champions League knockout stage games ever since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2018.

In those six games, Juventus have scored seven goals – and all of those goals were scored by Ronaldo.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored his first set of Champions League knockout stages goals against Atletico Madrid, netting a hat-trick to turn the tie in his side’s favor in the 2018-19 Round of 16.

The Bianconeri had lost the first-leg 2-0 but advanced to the last-eight with a 3-2 aggregate result.

In the same season, he found the back of the net in both the legs against Ajax in the quarter-finals only to see his side exit the competition.

The Portugal captain hit a brace against Olympique Lyonnais in the last-16 second-leg in 2019-20, but it wasn’t enough to save the Serie A champions from exiting Europe’s biggest club football stage.

The statistic shows the enormous impact Ronaldo has on the team, his knack of stepping up in the big stages, and that he, at 35-years of age, can still single-handedly decide ties.

However, it also goes on to show that Juventus are perhaps a little too much over-reliant on one player.
