Cristiano has scored some amazing freekick goals in his career, but certainly the best of them all is the free-kick against Portsmouth.
January 30, 2008 was a day that that was probably the first time that Cristiano Ronaldo showed a perfect combination of his physicality and technique.
It was also the day that he scored one of his most iconic goals in the colors of Manchester United.
Ronaldo, along with his then partner in crime Wayne Rooney, positioned themselves in front of the ball after Man United were awarded a free-kick in the first half of the Premier League clash against Portsmouth.
Knowing his partner’s abilities, Rooney stepped aside and let Ronaldo strike the dead ball.
What followed was one of the most difficult free-kick techniques in football as CR7’s knuckleball saw goalkeeper David James remain motionless, unable to comprehend what had happened, as the ball almost tore the back of his net.
A number of players have since then attempted to replicate Ronaldo’s feat, with a huge majority of them failing to do so.
