Cristiano Ronaldo will go down in history as one of the best Manchester United players of all time.
Real Madrid players will contest this and claim he is the best to play in the white jersey. After all, he is their top scorer and won four Champions League crowns amongst other silverware.
While with the national team there is no qualms who their best ever is. The prolific goal scoring machine is still going strong and has all top records in his grasp. Only the record for most goals in international matches elude him but it is a matter of time he achieves it.
Domestic glory has followed him at the three clubs Ronaldo established himself at. And with the exception of Champions League, he has won it all in Juventus colors.
Captain’s armband | Manchester United vs Bolton Wanderers March 19, 2008
The opportunity came for Ronaldo a year before his departure for Real Madrid. With Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney on the substitutes bench, the Portuguese god led the team against Bolton Wanderers on March 19, 2008.
The result was a fairly one-sided affair as the superstar scored both the goals in a routine win. Carlos Tevez was the provider for the first, with the second coming from a 35-yard freekick.
Interestingly, these goals allowed Ronaldo to overtake George Best’s record of 32 goals. The 40-year-old record came crashing down as Ronaldo only required 20 minutes to make his mark on United’s record books.
A fan favorite in Portugal, England, Spain and now in Italy, Cristiano Ronaldo is one player to cherish and his feats remembered.
