Premier League: West Ham United vs Chelsea Live

When Chelsea visits fourth-placed West Ham United on Saturday afternoon, they will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to four points.

The Blues are coming off a 2-1 win against Watford on Wednesday, while West Ham were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton & Hove Albion on the same evening.

West Ham has won seven, drawn three, and lost four of their 14 Premier League games this season for a total of 24 points, putting them in fourth place in the table and putting them in contention for a top-four finish.

With fifth-placed Arsenal hosting Manchester United on Thursday night, the Hammers might tumble to fifth by the time this match goes off, but a win would see David Moyes’ side finish the next series of fixtures in the top four regardless of what happens elsewhere.

West Ham were on the verge of securing a vital three points at home to Brighton on Wednesday, only for Neal Maupay to equalise for the Seagulls in the 89th minute, leaving Moyes’ side without a win in their past three league games.

A win over Chelsea would put the Hammers in a good position heading into back-to-back away games against Burnley and Arsenal, but a loss would leave them vulnerable to clubs attempting to exploit their weakness.

Last season, West Ham lost both league matches against Chelsea, including a 1-0 loss at the London Stadium, although they did win 3-2 at home against the Blues in July.

Chelsea were beaten to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United in the league last weekend, but they bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road on Wednesday.

Hakim Ziyech’s goal in the 72nd minute was the difference between the two teams, ensuring the Blues’ top-of-the-table position heading into Saturday’s London derby.
