Manchester United will seek to make it three Premier League wins in a row when they go to Carrow Road on Saturday to face Norwich City. The Red Devils, who have won their past two league games against Arsenal and Crystal Palace, are presently sixth in the rankings, while Norwich are bottom with 10 points from 15 games.
Norwich appeared doomed in the Premier League at the end of October, but the Canaries won back-to-back games against Brentford and Southampton either side of the November international break, before drawing with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United. Dean Smith’s side fell 3-0 against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, dropping them to the bottom of the standings with just 10 points from their first 15 games of the season.
However, the picture is much brighter for the promoted club, since they are only three points below 17th-placed Watford and have demonstrated a battling spirit since Smith’s appointment as head coach. Norwich now face back-to-back home league games against Manchester United and Aston Villa before travelling to West Ham United on December 18, while Arsenal will visit Carrow Road on Boxing Day, and it will be interesting to watch where the team is in the table as the month comes to a close.
The Canaries have lost eight of their last ten league games against their opponents this weekend, including a 3-1 loss at Carrow Road in the Premier League in October 2019. Man United, on the other hand, will enter Saturday’s match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Young Boys in their final Champions League group match on Wednesday evening.
Interim head coach Ralf Rangnick made several changes for the European match, fielding a brand-new XI, and a youthful side managed to get a point, with Tom Heaton, Charlie Savage, and Zidane Iqbal making their first-team debuts, and Mason Greenwood scoring for the home side at Old Trafford.
Rangnick will now be hoping to make it back-to-back league victories under his guidance, after leading the Red Devils to a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last Sunday, with Fred scoring the only goal of the game, as the club climbed up to sixth place in the Premier League table.
Man United are only three points behind fourth-placed West Ham United and have a favourable run of fixtures coming up, with Norwich, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United, and Burnley all coming up before the end of the month, and Rangnick will be looking to secure a lot of points during that time.
