Chelsea will look to rebound from a challenging week when they host Leeds United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the Premier League. The Blues are now third in the table, while Marcelo Bielsa’s side are 15th after a 2-2 draw with Brentford last time out.
Chelsea’s fantastic start to the season has since peaked, with just one win from their last four games in all competitions, and even that came against Watford, who gave them a run for their money.
Chelsea conceded three goals in the capital as West Ham United won 3-2 in a gripping London derby after losing the lead twice in a 3-3 thriller with Zenit St Petersburg, forcing them to settle for second place in Champions League Group H.
Manchester City and Liverpool both took advantage of the Blues’ mistakes to leapfrog them in the table, with Chelsea currently two points behind the table-topping Citizens and one point behind Liverpool in third place. The Zenit drama was Chelsea’s seventh game in a row with at least two goals, but Tuchel pulled no punches at the final whistle, seemingly enraged by his team’s ‘change in behaviour’ while holding a small lead.
Chelsea have also been held to draws at home by Burnley and Manchester United in recent Premier League games, but they have not played three consecutive top-flight stalemates on their own grounds since the days of Guus Hiddink.
Leeds may not be losing as many games in the Premier League anymore, but their penchant for stalemates persists, and they had to rely on Patrick Bamford’s last-minute heroics to salvage a point against Brentford at Elland Road.
