The Premier League is edging one step closer to return following an unanimous decision from clubs to resume player training in small groups.
The English top flight has been suspended since the middle of March and recent developments have seen plans made or a return to action.
Earlier today, representatives of all Premier League sides took part in a virtual meeting and agreed the decision for training to commence starting Tuesday.
There are plans already to kick-start the season in the middle of June and this latest agreement is a positive step with respect to that.
Starting Tuesday, players would begin training in groups of five at first following negative results after a mandatory COVID-19 test.
A statement from on the league’s official website reads: “Premier League Shareholders today voted unanimously to return to small-group training from tomorrow afternoon, the first step towards restarting the Premier League, when safe to do so.
“Step One of the Return to Training Protocol enables squads to train while maintaining social distancing. Contact training is not yet permitted.
