Cristiano Ronaldo had already established himself as one of the world’s best players while at Manchester United, but it was at Real Madrid that he forged his legacy of one of the best, or perhaps even the best, in all of history.
During his nine-year spell at Santiago Bernabeu, he added a plethora of individual accolades to his already glittering resume including four Ballon d’Or , three European Golden Shoe, three UEFA Best Player in Europe, and two The Best FIFA Men’s Player.
The Portuguese remained a talisman for Real Madrid throughout his stay as the team frequently dueled with arch-rivals FC Barcelona at domestic as well as continental level.
He also most often than not proved to be a thorn in Barcelona’s defense during El Clasico matches, netting 18 times in 30 matches against them.
A teammate of his recently completed his switch from Juventus to Barcelona, and on seeking advice ahead of the move, he reveals that Ronaldo, instead of speaking ill of his former opponents, had nothing but praise for them.
Miralem Pjanic told Mundo Deportivo: “When everything was done he told me that he was very happy for me, that I would be happy here because the game in Spain is very good and strong.
“He was disappointed that I was leaving Juventus, but he told me that he thinks I will have a lot of fun in a great team like Barcelona.
“Cristiano has been very professional at Juventus, he is a player who has shown many things and has been very important in the dressing room, setting an example for everyone.”
