Alvaro Morata is being lined up as an alternative should Juventus fail to sign Luis Suarez this summer.
The Italian champions are strongly in the hunt for a striker and continue to be linked with the Barcelona forward.
Huge waves and other complications could end up ruining the chances of Juventus signing Suarez. Should that happen, the club already have an alternative lined up in Alvaro Morata.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claim that Pirlo is a big admirer of the Atletico forward having watched him closely in his playing days.
Morata had a highly successful two-year spell at the Bianconeri after he joined from Real Madrid for £15.8m in 2014.
The 27-year-old has good memories from his time at the club, where he scored 27 goals in 93 appearances.
Morata helped Juventus to two Serie A titles and helped them to the Champions League final, where they fell to a 3-1 defeat to Barcelona in 2015.
If Juve go on to sign the Spaniard, it would see Pirlo re-unite with his ex-teammate.
Morata was a member of the Juventus squad during Pirlo’s final season at the club in 2015.
Since leaving Juve, the 27-year-old has had a second stint at Real Madrid as well as a two-year spell at Chelsea.
