Pique says Barcelona will fight until the end for La Liga

FC Barcelona were at their sparkling best when they played Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica last night.

Goals from Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, Ansu Fati, and Pau Torres, who was unfortunate in finding the back of the wrong net, saw Barca come out with a thumping 4-1 win.

The win helped them close the gap from arch-rivals, who also happen to be league leaders, Real Madrid back to four points.

Only four games now remain before the 2019/20 La Liga season comes to a close, and Gerard Pique insists his side are determined to fight until the very end in a bid to win their third consecutive title.

“We don’t like being behind and we’re going to fight to turn the situation around. Being at this club means fighting until the end,” Pique said at the full time [via Marca].

The Catalans have looked rusty in the previous few matches but were quite impressive last night. Pique was asked to reflect on what caused the change.

“There are various factors, the system being one of them,” he replied. “With this system, the front three are more central and closer to the penalty area and the goal.

“We’ve been playing with the same system for a while and the boss is looking for new things.”
