Odegaard will stay at Real Sociedad for another year

Martin Odegaard looks likely to be playing for Real Sociedad next season amid uncertainty he could return to the Bernabeu.

The Norwegian starlet joined the Basque outfit last summer on a two-year loan deal and has been a regular in Alguacil’s lineup.

Odegaard has only failed to complete 90 minutes for Sociedad in the La Liga twice this season. He has chipped in with four goals and five assists as well.

Initial reports claimed Zidane was ready to recall the 21-year-old back to the capital as he planned to offload a number of midfielders this summer.

During the uncertainty regarding his destination for next season, Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay remained confident the club would retain Odegaard for next season.

And now, Spanish outlet AS claim that the coronavirus pandemic has put a dent in some of Zidane’s transfer plans with the youngster now expected to see out his remaining year with Sociedad.

The report also adds that Real Madrid and Sociedad will re-negotiate terms and wages for Odegaard regarding his second year at the club. Although, terms are expected to remain in line with what was originally agreed in the two-year deal next summer.
