On November 24, in episode 1 of Kdrama “My Demon,” Do Do Hee (played by Kim Yoo Jung) and Jung Goo Won (played by Song Kang) met for the first time.
On this day, Do Do Hee was forced to go to a date at the request of Joo Cheon Sook (Kim Hae Sook). Do Do Hee was disgusted before they even met when she found out that the man had rented out the entire restaurant for the date.
Do Do Hee sat down and said to the man who was reading a paper newspaper, “I didn’t know that people still read print newspapers outside of planes. Is it just for show? I’ll have you know that I’m married to my work” and the man put down the newspaper to reveal his face.
It was Jung Goo Won. Do Hee was stunned by his visuals, and he shot back at her, saying, “What does it matter to me if you’re married to work?”
Do Do Hee asked, “Are you my classmate from school or my ex-boyfriend? If not then where are your manners?” To which he replied, “In my eyes, all people are insignificant.” At his answer, Do Do Hee thought, “What is up with this handsome fool?” and laughed.
Do Do Hee then tried to leave the room, but got a message from chairwoman Joo to keep her promise, so she started the 30-minute timer on her phone and she sat down again.
Jung Goo Won said, “If you want to eat, there are many other restaurants,” and Do Do Hee replied, “Then you can leave.” The two argued.
Later in the episode, a great crisis befell Do Do Hee, as the attacker attempted to kill her by saying, “The reason you’re going to die is because of Joo Cheon Sook.”
While Do Do Hee barely escaped in the nick of time, Jung Goo Won was looking for someone to pledge their soul as collateral. “Someone so desperate, lonely, and terrified that they wouldn’t hesitate to take my hand,” and appeared in front of Do Do Hee.
Do Hee was confused to see him in such an unexpected place, but she called for help, and he used his powers to defeat the thug. However, the thug tried to kill them with the car. He tried to stop it with his powers, but was shocked to discover that he had lost his powers. As he saw Do Hee falling in the water he went down with her. Later on the mark and the demon powers of Gu Won are shown to be transferred to Do Hee.
Despite their ill-fated relationship, the two are strangely attracted to each other, and we are curious to see what events will continue to bring them together in the future.
Episode 2 of “My Demon” will air on 25 November. The kdrama is available on Netflix for people outside of South Korea.
