Gareth Bale is linked with a return to Spurs and there is a strong chance it could happen.
It’s been a known fact that the Welshman is not wanted at Real Madrid but the issue of his destination was something of a problem.
Bale is on humongous wages at Real Madrid and there are barely few clubs that can afford his weekly pay-check.
Last summer, a club from China put in an offer for the winger but Real Madrid famously turned it down.
A return to the Premier League has been endorsed by Bale himself and the latest indication hints at a return to North London.
Mourinho was asked to speak on the rumors but failed to say anything concrete. Rather he spoke on how he tried to sign the Welshman while he was at Real Madrid.
Bale joined Madrid in 2013, the same summer Mourinho departed the Santiago Bernabeu after a three-year spell in charge.
Asked about the possibility of the Welshman re-joining Tottenham, Mourinho said as per Goal:
“I don’t comment on hypothetical stuff. Gareth Bale is a Real Madrid player.
“I tried to sign him for Real Madrid which was not possible during my time there. But the president followed my instinct and followed my knowledge and the season I left he brought Gareth to the club. That’s no secret and Gareth knows that.”
