Sources close to him also believe that he will at Camp Nou for at least until the end of 2021 season when his contract his about to expire.
Messi though has not been happy with Barcelona hierarchy and the decisions that have been made this season even calling out the club in public.
Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has been clear that he wishes for his star player to stay for many more years.
Speaking to the press in November he said:”Surely it will be the wish of all parties, if he feels strong and ambitious, to extend this contract indefinitely,”
“Ultimately it is he who must decide. He has earned the right to decide when he will stop playing football. But he wants to finish his playing career at Barcelona.
“Over the next two or three seasons our leader will continue to be Leo Messi. There’s no doubt that he is still young, still strong. He is still ambitious.
“So Leo will still play with us for the next two, three, four or five years. I have no doubts about that.”
Lionel Messi and co. will be returning in action next week with La Liga resuming on June 11 and Barcelona facing Mallorca on June 13.
