Messi is much more than goals says Quique Setien

Quique Setien has praised Lionel Messi for his amazing performance in the match against Mallorca.

FC Barcelona made their case stronger in the La Liga title race after registering a comfortable 4-0 victory against RCD Mallorca at Iberostar Stadium on Saturday.

Lionel Messi, as he so often does, stole the spotlight as he set up goals for Martin Braithwaite and Jordi Alba before himself making onto the scoresheet in the final minutes.

The match-ball earning performance saw Messi up his already mouthwatering this season’s statistics to 20 goals and 14 assists in 23 matches.

Acknowledging his sensational form, Quique Setien heaped praise on the Argentine insisting that his contributions are far more diverse than just finding the back of the net.

“He’s good. We shouldn’t just praise him for the amount of goals he scores, which is impressive, but for all the other contributions he makes too, such as assists,” the Barca boss said, ahead of the clash against Leganes [via Marca].

“The other day he got two [assists] again. It helps us get a lot of points.”

“The figure of 20 goals is astronomical. I think he’s scored more than 700 goals in his career now and that’s why he’s the best in the world.”
