Nemanja Matic recently signed a three-year extension at Manchester United.
The central midfielder was thought to be heading for the Old Trafford exit door back in January. However, having seized the opportunity to impress manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he has now become ever-present in the matchday lineup.
His patience, perseverance, and above attitude has led to the club first activating a one-year extension, then offering the player new and extended terms.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is building a youthful team at the Theatre of Dreams and Matic aged 31, kind of bucks the trend.
But the Norwegian has seen something in the Serbian international that he now sees as not only crucial on the field for the team, but also as a helping hand in the development of what he describes as “the kids.”
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said:
“I’m delighted that Nemanja wants to stay here.”
“He’s really shown over the years he’s been here how important he is for us and of course his experience, he’s a Premier League winner.”
“We need some experience as well with all the kids we’ve got running around! So I’m very, very happy that we could sort that out.”
