Manchester City only made one addition in January, with a handful of players leaving on a permanent or loan basis.
City, on the other hand, has been busy this month, beginning with the departure of Ferran Torres for Barcelona and ending with the acquisition of Julian Alvarez from River Plate.
Alvarez will be on loan at River until at least July, and perhaps until the end of 2022, although he has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at the Etihad and was signed for City, rather than as a City Football Group player.
A number of young players have gone on loan, with Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle, for example, returning from periods overseas to join Stoke and Cardiff in the Championship, respectively.
Others have gone permanently, with the club receiving fees from Sunderland and MK Dons for Patrick Roberts and Matt Smith, respectively.
