Lyon confirm approach for Houssem Aouar from Arsenal

Arsenal did make an offer for Aouar but it was turned down as Lyon want more for their prized asset, notifies Jean-Michel Aulas.

Arsenal are understood to be in requirement of a new signing in the middle of the park, having already made reinforcements to their attack and defense earlier this summer.

The Gunners are expected to step up their pursuit of Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, reportedly their no.1 target at present, as the transfer window edges closer to its conclusion.

Those at the club have not exactly made their intentions secretive, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang previously giving his seal of approval for his side’s interest in Aouar.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently sent an ultimatum to the potential suitors that the club will not entertain any offers for their players after Friday 25th of this month, hinting that the London-based side should act fast if they want the French midfielder.

Aulas was recently asked on Canal+, via Goal, whether Arsenal have made any approach for Aouar so far.

“There was a timid offer. We felt like they didn’t consider the fact that this is a player in the French national team. So, it was an offer that did not even make us consider making a sale,” he replied.

Quizzed on how much Lyon are demanding for their prized asset, perhaps €40m or €50m, he responded: “It is certainly more than the first number that you mentioned.
