Lionel Messi rejected Inter Milan in 2008

Inter Milan is rumored to have recently tried to lure Lionel Messi to the San Siro. It appears that it was not the first time such an audacious bid has been made.

Messi is one of the highest-paid footballers in the world. But according to a director who tried to lure him away from the Camp Nou the Argentine is not driven by money at all.

According to former Inter Milan sporting director Marco Branca, his club intently pursued the Barcelona star back in 2008.

However, the GOAT made it clear money was the issue for him, he simply did not want to leave his beloved Barcelona.

According to an interview reported by Goal, Branca claims the offer was made back in 2008 and the Nerrazuri “went all out.”

He said:

“Yes, we moved for him but Leo did not want to leave Barcelona.”

“He was very grateful to the club. Money does not always come first.”
