La Liga will most likely restart on June 11 with Sevilla-Betis clash – Javier Tebas

After more than three months out, La Liga plan to welcome a return to action on the 11th of June.

Since March 12, all forms of football have been suspended in Spain. The country was one of the most affected by the coronavirus pandemic globally.

But with the latest approval from the Spanish government, La Liga can once again return to play starting the 8th of June.

The Spanish top flight is set to join the likes of the Bundesliga and the Primeira Liga to resume action. As is the case over Europe, the season would restart with no spectators allowed in the stadium.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has now outlined his plans as the competition edges closer to a restart.

“Our aim is to be able to announce the first four rounds of fixtures next week,” Tebas told Movistar on Sunday as cited by Sky Sports .

“There is a possibility that there is a game on June 11, which would be the only match that night and perhaps there will be a tribute to all the people who have died (from the virus).”

Tebas also added on which fixture could be the first La Liga game played.

“I hope that date can be confirmed and we would like the game to be the Seville derby, kicking off at 10pm.”
