When Real Madrid travels to San Sebastian on Saturday night to face Real Sociedad, they will be trying to make it eight wins in a row in all competitions.
Los Blancos are now in first place, seven points ahead of Atletico Madrid, with Real Sociedad in third place, likewise seven points behind the leaders.
Real Sociedad can be pleased with their start to the 2021-22 La Liga season, with an eight-win, five-draw, and two-loss record from 15 games, resulting in 29 points and a third-place finish.
The Basque side is level on points with Atletico Madrid in second place, but they are currently seven points behind leaders Real Madrid, who appear like a club capable of opening up a significant lead in the coming weeks.
Real Sociedad suffered a 2-1 setback at Espanyol in the league last weekend, after a 2-1 loss at Monaco in the Europa League, leaving the La Liga club battling for a place in the next round of the European competition ahead of their match against PSV Eindhoven next week.
Imanol Alguacil’s side must defeat PSV to finish second in the group, and they will be anxious to enter that match on the back of a solid league result.
Real Sociedad, on the other hand, returned to winning ways in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, defeating Panaderia Pulido 4-0 to advance to the competition’s second round.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, has been in fantastic form recently, winning each of their past seven matches in all competitions and being undefeated since a 2-1 loss to Espanyol on October 3.
Los Blancos have already qualified for the Champions League knockout stage, and they will face Inter Milan next week for the right to finish first in Group D.
Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti’s team has won their previous five league games, including two emphatic victories against Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao on November 28 and December 1, respectively.
