La Liga was originally called to a halt on March 12 for at least two matchdays. It was believed that the league will be resumed soon and played behind closed doors.
With recent reports claiming that there have been as many as 30,000 confirmed cases and nearly 2000 deaths.
Spain is set to remain in lockdown until at least April 11. This makes it impossible for football to be resumed any time soon.

Spanish football competitions postponed until further notice as agreed by RFEF-LaLiga.
A part of the official statement on La Liga’s official website read: “The Monitoring Commission established by the current RFEF-LaLiga Coordination Agreement AGREES the suspension of professional football competitions until the authorities of the Government of Spain and the General Administration of the State consider that they can be resumed without creating any health risk.”
