Newcomer Kim Si-eun is joining the cast of the new series “Knockoff” and will share the screen with senior actor Kim So-hyun.
According to news outlet in Korea, Kim Si-eun’s casting in the upcoming series “Knockoff” has been confirmed.
In the drama, she will portray a character who interacts with Kim So-hyun.
“Knockoff” falls under the black comedy genre and revolves around various stories related to fake luxury goods.
The male lead role is currently being positively considered by Kim So-hyun, who is actively performing in the drama “Queen of Tears.”
The show is directed by Park Hyun-seok, known for works such as “The Princess’s Man,” “Song of the Bandits,” “Uncontrollably Fond,” “Stranger 2,” and “Hometown.”
The script is penned by Han Jung-hoon, a writer specialized in genre content, who has previously worked on projects like “Bad Guys” and “38 Task Force.”
The collaboration between these two talents follows their successful partnership in the Netflix series “Song of the Bandits.”
Kim Si-eun, who made her debut in 2013, gained prominence as the lead actress in the film “Next So-hee” (2023), which was selected as the closing film for the 75th Cannes Film Festival Critics’ Week, making her a rising star.
She has since been invited to several international film festivals, receiving accolades such as the Best New Actress Award at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards, the New Actress Award from the 43rd Korean Association of Film Critics Awards, and the Best New Actress Award at the 32nd Buil Film Awards.
Her achievements include the coveted title of “Triple Crown Newcomer” and she continues to be a notable rising star.
Apart from “Next So-hee,” Kim Si-eun has showcased her talent in various youth-oriented projects, including the MBC drama “Special Labor Inspector Jo,” JTBC’s “Run On,” and tvN’s “Mental Coach Jegal.”
She is also set to appear in the highly anticipated global Netflix series “Squid Game” Season 2 this year.
