Kevin De Bruyne could leave Man City if they get a UCL ban

Manchester City were slapped a two-year ban from participating in the Champions League on the account of their non-compliance with the Finacial Fair Play regulations.

The Sky Blues, however, denounced the accusations by UEFA and launched an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

While the CAS still contemplates whether Pep Guardiola‘s side are guilty or innocent, the consequent uncertainty has raised questions over the future of some of their key players.

One such player is Kevin De Bruyne. One of the most prolific playmakers in world football, and arguably Man City’s most important player, De Bruyne is being linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Robert Martinez believes City’s appeal getting ignored could leave the 28-year old in a position to start searching for pastures new when the transfer market opens.

Martinez said: “I think he will weigh up everything before his decision.

“He will take into consideration if there is a ban in the Champions League. Or if the coach that he has a fantastic relationship is going to stay at the club.

“The last thing you can afford to do is finish your career and say ‘I should have moved in that moment, or I should have stayed’. Kevin is very mature and will take everything into consideration.”
