Douglas Costa is all set to join Bayern Munich on a season long loan from Juventus
Injuries have severely restricted Douglas Costa’s opportunities with Juventus in recent seasons. The Brazilian, who amassed an impressive 12 league assists in his debut campaign, appears a far cry from his old self.
In fact, he has only played 40 minutes’ worth of football under new Bianconeri manager Andrea Pirlo. These minutes came through two second-half cameos in the club’s opening games of the 2020/21 Serie A campaign.
But Costa is understood to be desperate to relaunch his career and believes an exit is the right path. He reportedly views his old side Bayern as the place to go and hopes to finalize a deal before Monday’s night deadline.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a loan move is all but done for the 30-year-old’s return. Bayern will pay his full salary in return for Juventus allowing him to join them, but no buy option has been included in the agreement.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk star will head to Germany on Monday morning to complete a medical before putting pen-to-paper on a deal.
Costa initially played for Bayern between 2015 and 2017, managing 14 goals and 27 assists in 77 appearances. He, in particular, impressed in the Pep Guardiola era in Munich. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival in 2016 saw him fall out of favor and eventually leave for Juve on loan a year later.
The Italian giants later signed him on a permanent €40m deal in the summer of 2018.
