Lionel Messi’s career with the national team has always been shrouded in mystery and controversy.
One of those mystery was when Messi did not start in the quarter-final clash between Argentina and Germany in the 2006 World Cup.
Well now it has been answered and as it turns out Jose Pekerman has been taking the heat for not playing him as the star had been injured.
Pictures did the rounds of disheveled and disappointed Messi on the Argentine bench.
In an interview reported by TYC, former player Leandro Cufré revealed the truth about Messi whom he calls as flea, he said:
“Flea could hardly run.”
“Pekerman, as he is a gentleman, never said that Leo was nursing an injury against Germany.”
“He could hardly run.”
“He did not arrive in good condition due to his injury.”
