Iker Casillas set to return to Real Madrid as an advisor

Iker Casillas more or less brought his playing career to an end with a big move off the pitch back in February.

Still registered as a Porto player, the 39-year-old announced his bid to run for the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) presidency towards the end of February.

Casillas has not officially announced his retirement but all of his recent activities suggest he would not be returning to the pitch.

Rather, he would be making an emotional return to Real Madrid in Spain.

Marca report that Casillas would join Florentino Perez in a special role as the club’s advisor.

It comes as a surprise considering the goalkeeper departed the club in the summer of 2015 following a heated war of words with Perez.

Casillas is now expected to officially hang up his boots in a fitting fashion at the end of the campaign. Coincidentally. FC Porto and Real Madrid both lifted their domestic titles respectively.

Ahead of a tough summer for Los Blancos, his vast experience contesting at the top levels of football could prove to be an asset for Real Madrid and Florentino Perez.

Till date, legendary goalkeeper Casillas still regrets the way he left Real Madrid.
