Heung-min Son urges supporters to stay away and follow social distancing rules as he prepares for military service

Son has urged fans in South Korea to keep their distance and follow social distancing rules as he is set to begin his military service next week.

Son is a very popular figure in South Korea and it is normally expected the facility where he was to undergo his training would normally be filled with fans trying to get a glimpse of the Tottenham star.

However, the facility will not be open to the public this time around as a measure to curb large gatherings and prevent further spread of Covid-19 in the country.

A statement on Son’s Facebook page read:

“As large gatherings have been discouraged due to the Covid-19 virus and as we are working to comply with government policy, we will not be opening this event up to the public.

“This decision is being made to ensure the safety of the fans and reporters and to prevent any dangerous situations from arising.

“Thank you for your understanding. Heung-min Son looks forward to completing his military duty and doing his best at the training facility.”
