Harry Maguire got into some trouble with the police while on holiday in Greece.
The Man United captain got involved in a brawl while at the club. Further reports claimed he used swear words and tried to ‘harass’ a police officer. He was detained by the Greek police last Friday.
Maguire was released from custody the following morning but the saga is far from over.
The 27-year-old was charged with potential assault on police in the aftermath of his release. The defender pleaded ‘not guilty’ after appearing in court.
BBC now reports that Maguire will begin his trial in Greece on Tuesday. He will be represented by Alexis Anagnostakis, one of Greece’s top human rights lawyers.
However, he is not obliged to be in attendance at the trial.
As per the report, police in Greece say a file has been opened against Maguire. It includes accusations of “violence against officials, disobedience, bodily harm, insult and attempted bribery of an official”.
In a turn of similar events, another Manchester United player also got involved with law earlier today. However, it was a positive story as Lindelof helped prevent a robbery in his hometown.
