Guardiola says Lampard will become an “extraordinary manager”

Eyebrows were raised when Chelsea appointed an inexperienced Frank Lampard to take charge of the team before the start of this season.

The consensus was that someone well versed in re-building teams and aware of the ins and outs of managing a top Premier League side was needed to replace Maurizio Sarri, and Lampard’s CV displayed neither of those skills.

The former club captain decided to show faith in his youth players and it has paid huge dividends.

Chelsea not only look capable of achieving their objects for the season, but they also have managed to form one of Europe’s most promising teams with several rising talents.

Ahead of Manchester City’s match against them, Pep Guardiola has admired the Blues’ boss while backing him to have a successful managerial career.

“Frank Lampard was an extraordinary football player and he will be an extraordinary manager. He did a really good season and I am delighted to watch his team,” said Guardiola, as per Chelsea’s official website.

“When you start as a manager, you have a passion and no fears. You take decisions without compromise, which he has done by giving opportunities to the young, talented players Chelsea have because his Academy in the last five or 10 years has done really well.”
