Gareth Bale riled up the Real Madrid fans when he displayed a flag stating: “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order” after helping Wales book a place in Euro 2020.
Bale’s controversial action has seen allegations thrown his way that golf is the reason he fails to put his focus on Real Madrid. Having publicized his love for the sport on several occasions, he hasn’t helped his case either.
There is no denying that the Welshman has suffered a massive dip in form this season, although any rational fan hardly believes playing golf can disrupt his football career.
Bale recently echoed similar sentiments while claiming that NBA star Stephen Curry can also be found playing golf before games.

Speaking on The Erik Anders Lang Show, he said: “A lot of people have problems with me playing golf. I don’t know why.”
“I’ve talked about it many times and everyone thinks it’s fine. But especially in the media there is that perception that I should be resting, that it can lead to injuries.”
“I see people in America, for example Stephen Curry, who plays the same morning of the game. Here, if I play two days before the game it’s like: ‘What are you doing?’”
