Since joining Real Madrid last summer, the Belgian has not hit his flowing best on the pitch and has barely even played enough games to make a statement.
Recurring injuries means Eden Hazard has only featured ten times in LaLiga for Los Blancos this season.
Despite all of that, Argentinean footballing icon Hugo Gatti insists the Real Madrid star is as lethal as Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, who is arguably the best player on the planet.
“If Hazard is fine, like the one I saw at the 2018 World Cup, he is at Messi’s level,” he said on the Spanish TV show ‘El Chiringuito de Jugones as quoted by Marca.
“They are both great talents. He is at Messi’s level if he is doing well, and time will tell.”
There have been doubts on whether Hazard can live up to justify the fee Real Madrid paid for his services.
Hugo Gatti believes it is only a matter of time before the Belgain will become as influential as Lionel Messi.
“I remind you that Hazard was the best player at the last World Cup, and I am sure that this year he will show his level in LaLiga.
“It seems that praising Messi is like an obligation.
“This year Hazard is going to be at Messi’s level. LaLiga is not won by a player; it’s won by everyone, and he is going to be an important guy. Time will tell”
