Juventus would have to decide or not whether they would allow De Ligt go for surgery.
The 20-year-old has been struggling with shoulder injuries since November and has managed to remain in action with it.
As cited by Football-Italia, it’s reported that De Ligt saw lots of discomfort with his shoulder during his side’s 3-3 draw with Atalanta.
The situation now is that he might have to go for surgery in a bid to get rid of the problem completely.
However, the timing comes as a tricky one for Juventus. They still have five Serie A games to go and still have the Champions League to play for in August.
Should De Ligt go ahead with the surgery, he is not expected to recover in time to feature for the remainder of their Champions League campaign. He could also miss the early stages of next season.
The Dutchman initially struggled with life in Turin but has looked decent in defence recently.
In total, De Ligt has featured 35 times for Juventus, scoring three goals and chipping in with an assist since his debut last summer.
