Juventus go up against Genoa later today at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris in the 29th matchday of Serie A.
Depending on the results of the earlier match wherein Lazio play Torino, a victory could help Juve take a seven-point lead in the title race.
While the Bianconeri still have a healthy lead, they cannot afford to drop points in these late stages. Therefore, they need to make sufficient squad rotations so as to ensure the performance of their key players does not drop due to fatigue by the congested fixture list.
However, that has not been the case so far. Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the most important player in the Juve line-up, has played every minute of their four games since the return of football. Paulo Dybala too has started each match.
Maurizio Sarri is cautious about overworking the duo and says he will start resting them soon.
“It’s likely that they [Ronaldo & Dybala] can start again [vs Genoa],” Sarri told a news conference [via AS].
“It’s clear that if they play every game, in two or three matches we may have a problem. But I don’t think there is any risk for them to suffer some sort of fatigue right now.
“In the long run, though we need to have [Gonzalo] Higuain fit and able to play a large part of the game. This will become essential at some point.”
