The Champions League has been deemed by many as Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal tournament.
The Portugal and Juventus superstar has lifted the trophy five times so far in his career.
Add to that the fact he is the competition’s all-time leading goal scorer with 129 goals and the all-time leader in assists with 40.
Chiellini who has never lifted the coveted trophy insists that Champions League games are what Ronaldo is all about.
In an interview reported by Goal, the veteran defender admits Ronaldo raises his game for the big occasion, especially in Europe.
He said:
“Cristiano is doing well.”
“He changed the way he played compared to when he was younger. He is enhanced with the big games.”
“Maybe against the small teams he makes a performance that seems subdued. With the big ones, he is incredible.”
“In the Champions League, he turns. He feels it coming and he turns the engine up.”
Ronaldo is without a shadow of doubt the tournaments bench-mark player.
