After guiding Real Madrid to their 13th Champions League final victory in 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo decided he has had enough and to put an end to his nine-year spell at the club.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored an astonishing 451 goals in just 438 games to cement his status as Los Blancos’ top scorer and won 16 major titles along before moving to Juventus in search of a new challenge.
The Portuguese is tied to Juve until 2022. But his national teammate Jose Fonte believes a return to the Santiago Bernabeu might still be in the cards as Ronaldo is still fond of his former club.
“I know he loves Madrid, that’s for sure,” Fonte claimed, speaking to talkSPORT.
“It’s clear that he loves the club itself. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world, if not the biggest.
“He’s left many, many friends there and he’s always left the door open. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes back to Real Madrid.”
