Cristiano Ronaldo’s ability to process information much faster than others helps him remain on top of everyone else, according to Mehdi Benatia.
While many at his age already start making plans for retirement, 35-year old Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be the go-to man for one of the biggest clubs in world football.
Scoring 25 goals through 32 appearances this season, Ronaldo is enjoying his second stint as Juventus’ leading goalscorer.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s competitive mentality and dedication to his art is understood as the reason for him remaining at the peak for much longer than usual.
But Mehdi Benatia, who played alongside Ronaldo for a season, suggests his former teammate’s intelligence plays a key reason in helping him continue to enhance his status as one of the best footballers of all time.
“He is the absolute number one, as a footballer and as a person,” Benatia told Goal. “He is very intelligent, even off the pitch. His brain is always faster than anybody else.”
“I am happy to be his friend. I always wish him the best.”
