Cristiano Ronaldo, with 21 goals from 22 games in Serie A, was on his way to becoming the top scorer for Juventus for a second consecutive season after joining the club in 2018.
Ronaldo also reached a personal landmark this season as he made his 1000th competitive appearance against SPAL back in February, marking the occasion with yet another record of scoring in 11 consecutive league matches.
But his joy was not very long-lived as football went into a coronavirus enforced break. The Portuguese fled to his homeland and has been seeking refuge there until Juve recently recalled the players to resume their training.
While in Madeira, he made the most of the training facilities so as to keep in shape and be ready for when the season resumes.
And Filipe Goncalves, a young goalkeeper at Nacional de Madeira who has been training alongside him, says Ronaldo is determined to stay at Juventus, despite the rumors having claimed otherwise previously.
“He seemed very happy with his experience in Italy, in Turin and in particular to play at Juventus,” Goncalves told Tuttosport.
“He told me several times that the club is very large, organized. And he has huge admiration for the Juventus fans, who care so much about him.”
“Cristiano arrived at the field after having already trained at home. And after the shots on goal, he did technical exercises and shots.”
“Sometimes I tried to run with him, but it is impossible to keep up with him. He is a beast!”
