Cristiano Ronaldo breaks another Serie A record

With his 43rd goal in Serie A, Cristiano Ronaldo is the leading Portuguese goalscorer in the history of Serie A.

Two first-half goals, one from Cristiano Ronaldo and the other from Paulo Dybala, collected Juventus all three points against Bologna in their Serie A matchday 27 on Monday.

Both teams struggled to find their footing in the opening 20 minutes of the match. It was not until Matthijs De Ligt earned a penalty a few minutes later that Juve took the lead, courtesy to Ronaldo’s ice-cool finish from the spot.

A curling left-footed shot from Paulo Dybala, following a lovely back-heeled pass from Federico Bernardeschi, then doubled their advantage.

The match saw Ronaldo manage to end his minor goalless streak while also reach a few personal landmarks.

Having scored his 43rd goal in Serie A, the 34-year overtook Rui Costa to become the highest-scoring Portuguese player in the Italian top-flight.

It was also his 22nd league goal this season, one more than the 21 he scored in his debut campaign with the Bianconeri last season.

The goal at Dall’Ara against Bologna also means that the former Real Madrid man has scored in 15 of the 16 venues he has played in Serie A, Tardini being the only exception.
